Osteopathy for Back Pain & More

I am a Cork Osteopath located on Monahan Rd close to the Black Market. As an osteopath near Cork City, my clinic treats a wide range of spinal and sports injuries because of its large population. I believe osteopathy is the best approach when addressing pain because it considers the body as a whole. Doing this aids the body’s natural healing processes and facilitates its natural self-regulation.

Treating the Root Cause of Pain

In my osteopathic clinic, I focus on treating the root cause of back pain and injuries, not just the symptoms. So, I customize my treatments for each patient to guarantee enduring pain relief. My education started with Bowen Therapy, Sports Massage and Physical Therapy. So, along with osteopathic methods, I use dry needling, electrotherapy, and personalized exercises to improve patient outcomes.

Home Exercises for Better Recovery

I highly recommend patients include the home exercises I prescribe to enhance their recovery. The exercises I give are accessible via an app for patients to review at their leisure. I recommend exercises based on over 20 years of sporting experience, osteopathic best practice and scientific research.

How Osteopathy Works

Osteopathy uses touch, physical manipulation, massage and stretching to increase joint mobility, relieve muscle tension, and enhance natural healing mechanisms. The osteopathic approach works with the structure and function of the body. In essence, the smooth functioning of joints, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues is crucial for your well-being.

Treatment Methods

As part of your treatment plan, I may recommend adjustments to your spine and other joints when deemed appropriate. However, my priority is to first release tight muscles and tissues to increase joint mobility and reduce pain. I use hands-on methods to mobilise the spine and other body parts that may have reduced movement. This manual approach frequently improves mobility and relieves discomfort, particularly in cases of acute pain.

Conditions I Treat

Osteopathy is an effective treatment for spinal injuries, disc issues, sciatica, joint pain, tendonitis, and shoulder injuries. Below I have a list of some of what I treat but it is not limited to those conditions.
